SUMMARY:Stars Shine Brighter in the Darkest Nights: What is Ours to Do or Not?
DESCRIPTION:About the current times in which we find ourselves\, a wise indigenous elder offered this image: “We are all together\, all One\, in a birth canal\, on our way to being birthed into a more evolved spiritual consciousness. And some of us are also midwives\, helping to birth this new consciousness.” \nWhat if this is true? Birth can be painful and messy. Gratefully\, we have our Unity tools as we learn and do what is ours to do in this time. \nJoin us to share what’s in our hearts\, respond to where Unity stands on Social Justice\, and learn and grow together. We’ll move through Sacred Circle\, group sharing\, and open conversation. Handouts on Unity’s official stances on social justice will be provided\, along with time to respond and reflect together. \nPRESENTER\nPat began her career in nursing\, specializing in psychiatric nursing\, and later earned a doctorate in clinical psychology. She practices psychotherapy part-time. She attended UUMS\, and was ordained in 2025. She has been called to an alternative ministry in Social Justice. She is the senior minister of the Unity Social Justice Ministry. With the goal of inspiring others to get involved in acts of social justice\, large or small\, she and her ministry team. produce two podcasts a month. The first broadcast is a virtual service\, with meditation\, prayer\, music\, and a message about social justice. The next podcast is a conversation with someone who has “boots on the ground” in an area of social justice. Podcast topics covered include Earth Justice\, Economic Justice\, Racial Justice\, Voting Rights\, Stars in the Darkness\, Radiating Hope\, and Birthing a Higher Consciousness. unitysocialjustice.org. Invitations to the podcasts are sent to every Unity church in the United States and 360 followers. She is on the Advisory Board of the Alliance for Unitive Justice (auj.org).

SUMMARY:Rising Together: The Spiritual Physics of Elevation
DESCRIPTION:What helps us rise? Throughout creation\, we see things lifted by forces greater than gravity—birds soaring on the wind\, seeds pushing through the soil\, bread rising\, and balloons floating skyward. What if these everyday moments also reveal something about our spiritual lives? \nIn this interactive and experiential session\, we’ll explore the “physics” of spiritual elevation and discover how faith\, prayer\, encouragement\, and authentic community become the forces that lift us through life’s challenges. Through storytelling\, reflection\, conversation\, and prayer\, we’ll uncover what weighs us down\, what helps us rise\, and how we can become a source of lift for one another. \nWhether you are new to Unity or have been walking a spiritual path for years\, you’ll leave with fresh insights\, meaningful connections\, and practical spiritual practices for rising—and helping others rise—together. \nPRESENTER\nMaggie Alderman is an ordained Unity minister and Director of the Silent Unity Prayer Ministry at Unity World Headquarters. Raised in Unity\, she was ordained in 2020 and has served in a range of ministry and leadership roles within the Unity movement. In her role\, she provides strategic and spiritual leadership for a 24/7 global prayer ministry offering support through phone and digital platforms. Her work focuses on strengthening prayer operations\, expanding access through digital innovation\, and supporting the formation and development of prayer associates and ministry leaders. \nIn addition to her leadership at Silent Unity\, Maggie writes for Unity publications and serves as a guest speaker\, teacher\, trainer\, and workshop facilitator to ministers and ministries across the Unity movement. SUMMARY:Music in Ministry
DESCRIPTION:Music is very powerful: it can create the mood\, unify the congregants\, raise or lower the energy\, and open hearts. Every person walking into your church instantly gets a “vibe” from the décor\, greeters\, and the music. \nWhen music and message work together\, you have the possibility of creating a profound spiritual experience for those in attendance. \nThe bar has been raised by all the great music available now\, and just as the type of music matters\, the quality of the music is also very important. Never underestimate the power of a good song delivered well. Having a great talk with mediocre music will not entice people to return. \nSue will offer some ideas on music resources that sound great for all levels of singing\, and songs that are doable for your music team\, giving you the possibility of using music to orchestrate not just a great talk\, but also a powerful worship experience. We will also discuss the importance of having a license that honors songwriters.
